Water View Place

Water View Place -Hot Tub! This cozy and contemporary southwest-facing home offers a stunning view of Haro Strait and the Olympic Mountains. Spectacular water views make it ideal for seasonal whale watching. High vaulted ceilings expand this multi- bedroom home. The modern kitchen is well-stocked to make meal planning a breeze, and offer a fantastic view while doing so. Guests can eat at the breakfast bar or enjoy the adjacent dining table seated by the southwest facing windows.

The comfortable living room offers seating for everyone to enjoy a movie or the provided Dish Network. Family time can be shared on the deck with the 4-seater table and BBQ.

There is a bathroom on each floor conveniently located by the bedrooms. Upstairs you will find 2 bedrooms on either side of the full bathroom: the primary bedroom to your right with a private deck, and the Queen guest bedroom to the left. Downstairs you will find the 3/4 bathroom down the hall from the additional room equipped with a Queen bed. The downstairs of this home also boasts a newly remodeled game room! A pool table and ping pong table (can be converted) and a foosball table are supplied for guest-use! A gas fireplace and wood floors add to the warmth of this home making it perfect for all seasons.

This home does not have Air Conditioning. Opening the deck doors to let the ocean breeze in is adequate to cool this home.

Water View Place is nearby to beaches and hiking trails. Just 5 minutes down the road you will find historic American Camp, Mt. Finlayson, South Beach, or the Cape San Juan Lighthouse. (Discover Pass required at some locations)
**PLEASE NOTE** Though the home is very private, there are caretakers living in a separate cabin on the property. The living room, kitchen and 2 bedrooms are located on the second level.

Pets are not allowed at this property.

  We stayed at this gorgeous home for a four day, three night trip to San Juan Island and loved every minute. The home was clean, a welcome basket overflowing with snacks was waiting for us, and the views were incredible. We enjoyed mornings on the deck facing the water views and even saw a fox one morning. The bed we slept in was comfortable, the downstairs game room with foosball/pool/table tennis was super fun, and the hot tub was very nice. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and some extras like syrup, and some condiments in the fridge. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay as we explored San Juan and Orcas islands!would definitely return!

  Our first vacation on San Juan Island was amazing in big part because of this house! Even though we had a wheel chair and disabled child to carry up and down the stairs (we knew of this in advance), the views and the quality of the place was all worth it. The hosts and the management company were most welcoming and accommodating. We wished we could stay longer. The home is very comfortable and spacious. The bedrooms are large with comfortable beds. We enjoyed the ping-pong and foosball tables in the game room. We used the kitchen and the outdoor gas grill to cook three of our dinners.
  A long stretch of the road leading to the property is graveled with the middle portion between wheels raised up. We had to drive our wheelchair van slowly and carefully in order not to scrape the underside very much. This wouldn't be an issue for most other vehicles.
  There was plenty to see and do within short drives from the house. The magical surrounding of this place are very memorable. We hope to be back some day!

  My sister and I brought our daughters to Friday Harbor for a girls weekend. While the whales disappointed, this beautiful home definitely did not. The drive to the home prepares you for the seclusion and privacy of the property. The home is perfectly appointed with amazing amenities (my sister and I didn't use much beside the coffee machine since it was a holiday for us too!) and even had a game room on the first floor. I loved enjoying my morning coffee looking toward the water. The local wildlife was also a hit with our girls (foxes and deer). We didn't need to bother the hosts and from all accounts they, too, are amazing people. The San Juan Islands are magical and I look forward to bringing the rest of my family for a visit.

  This cottage by the sea is beautiful and very comfortable. My kids enjoyed playing foosball and ping pong in the game room and we all enjoyed the hot tub and the beautiful water view. There is a family of foxes that live in the shrubs near this home and we enjoyed watching them frolic in the meadow outside the house. Upon arrival, we noticed a large basket filled with snacks, this was a very nice touch. The hosts are very thougful and the home is cozy and inviting.

  We were lucky enough to spend the first week of the New Year at Debbie & Steve ́s beautiful house and we enjoyed our stay a lot! We especially loved the living room with its vaulted ceilings, its friendly tones, its amazingly warming oven and its beautiful art work. Enjoying this atmosphere while having breakfast and watching the ocean, eagles, hummingbirds and funny foxes, sitting on their stone next to the house, was just priceless!
  From the site of the house it only takes about 10 minutes by car to experience even more wildlife and ocean views on amazing trails, where an interesting chit chat with locals is always an option. After withstanding the winter forces of mother nature around the close by lighthouse it really feels good to return to the coziness of the house and to warm up in the hot tub.
  Debbie and Steve are wonderful and thoughtful hosts and recommended a very cool photo opp at a stunning mausoleum closer to Roche Harbor. Next to useful travel tips they even offered to help us out with food during a winter storm!

We saw many foxes in the field outside of the house and an highlight was seeing up to ten whales passing back and forth from the deck--we could even hear them splashing around. We appreciated being outside of the town of Friday Harbor and the kitchen was great for home cooked meals but close enough to drive in for meals out. We also loved that we were close enough to American Camp to explore via bike. The hot tub and ping pong table were great options when the weather turned.   Well-maintained home 15 minutes from Friday Harbor. Great views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Victoria, Canada. We enjoyed watching ships and barges on their way to Canada while we drank coffee and wine from the deck. There was an adorable family of foxes who could be seen throughout the day playing and hunting in the nearby fields as well as a couple of deer. We were pleasantly surprised to find the owners had added a game room in the garage since our booking which included a tv, pool/ping pong table, and a foosball table. The kids absolutely loved the addition! House is located about 5 minutes from the America Camp with plenty of hiking trails, 20 min to Lime Kiln, and 30 min to Roche Harbor. The owners live next door and were very attentive when we had a concern. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a beautiful home during a quiet escape to the island.

  Needing to remove ourselves from Seattle during the CV crisis we happened upon the Cutting's beatiful property. It was well equipped for four of us and could have easily handled six. The space was inviting to relax and do things inside but also set in a great piece of property with sweeping views of the Pacific and positioned to take long walk along the cliff side or down to the water.
  
  The amenities are tremendous: gas stove, propane grill, plenty of kitchen equipment, a warm hottub, three different deck/patio areas, bathroom and cleaning supplies galore.
  
  We worked from home so a few things about that. This home receives satellite internet which is reasonable for a vacation but might be a bit limiting for those working from home. That being the case, it worked well for us and the space is very comfortable for three adults to be working all day in their own space.
  
  Overall we couldn't have asked for a better location, facility or stay. Thank you for being such accommodating hosts and providing us with a comfortable respite during this unique time. We hope to see you soon!

  This spot was such a great choice! We ended up staying further out than we had planned because we insisted on having a hot tub! It ended up being so worth it! It’s still a short drive from Friday Harbor but sad quiet and beautiful and the house was really nice!

  We stayed at Water View Place for five nights in August. The home is beautiful. Very well appointed with nice linens and towels, very good mattresses, well stocked kitchen, plenty of beach towels and chairs. The location is serene and definitely away from the noise of Friday Harbor. Beautiful west-facing water view for wonderful sunsets. Steve and Debbie left a welcome basket with everything you could need for a few breakfasts. The hot tub was terrific - clean, strong jets, nice patio garden surrounding it. We used the grill several times. Very nice feature. Beautiful hard wood floors throughout and panoramic views from all sides of the house. Truly a beautiful island retreat. Eagle Cove beach is about 1/2 mile down the road with parking. Definitely recommend an ocean kayaking tour if you haven't done it. We left from Roche Harbor with San Juan Outfitters for a five hour excursion. Small group - just three kayaks. Great day. Would recommend Water View Place very highly. We would definitely re-rent if we return to the island. Thank you Debbie and Steve!

  We spent 2 nights at the San Juan Island and had a great time at this beautiful house. The property was very clean, nicely furnished and just 10-20 minutes away from any major part of the island. The caretakers surprised us with a basket full pf goodies and hand written card. It was a very personal and kind gesture. The only things we didn't like were maintenance related. The grill had not been cleaned for a long time (this is partially visitors' fault), there were no patio/dech lights that we could find, so it was hard to use the bbq after sunset.

  What a beautiful home. Spent three nights with family here and we had such a great time relaxing and connecting. Check in was easy, we were even given a notice that the property was available early. The space was impeccably clean and well stocked. The basket of goodies and welcome note was so cool when we arrived and was just one of the little touches that made the stay special. Best part by far though, was driving up with about 10 deer in the field around the house. We saw bald eagle across the incredible view as well. What a great place and only 10 minutes (or less) to town. Would definitely recommend.

  The house is exactly as pictured and described. Views were great and it was fun to experience a variety of November weather. The care takers left us a great goodie basket with all the things we would need for the 1st day's breakfast- including some of the BEST bread we've ever tasted! The only disappointment was that we couldn't get another loaf from Bakery San Juan before we headed back home. We saw deer every AM and PM! Close to Friday Harbor and to American Camp. Great gas fireplace and open floor plan for all of us to hang out while cooking. Hot tub was great- everything is brand new at the house. TV w/ great cable was a treat! Wi-fi works great, but (as they warned us in advance) cell phone coverage is spotty. Care takers were not there during our stay, but for some people who are looking for 100% privacy I would say that the their home is a little closer than I expected. We had a fabulous time and will be be back for sure!

  We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Water View Place. The home is lovely, very accurately depicted in the photos.
  The location on the west side of SJI is perfect for sunsets and views over the water to Vancouver Island and Victoria. This is enhanced by having the living/dining areas upstairs for the views, along with a large deck facing west.
  We enjoyed every morning and evening on that deck, and were treated several times to pods of Orcas feeding along the coast. We were close enough to hear their exhalations when they would surface!
  The home was well cleaned, and well appointed with niceties like bathroom products, complimentary ground coffee, treats etc. Gracious touch!
  The queen beds are very comfortable (a bit on the soft side for our personal taste, but that is subjective of course). The bedrooms are well outfitted with closet/storage space.
  No A/C, but the San Juans rarely stay hot at night, so we would open the screened windows and things would cool down. No window in the master bedroom (double door to small deck, not screened), but a fan is supplied. (A screen on that door would be a nice touch, although we didn't have any bugs while there).
  Kitchen is well stocked (unusual!), and washer/dryer are large and work well. Didn't use hot tub.
  iHome stereo device rigged for iPhone/iPad attachment is nice. Didn't use TV, etc.
  Parking area is easy and large.
  Location beautiful, and remote for privacy (note very helpful owners do live adjacent in own cabin, but didn't impinge on our sense of privacy). Friday Harbor 10-15 minute drive. Same for Lime Kiln SP or Cattle Point. Roche Harbor about 30 min.
  Overall, a wonderful home in a quiet location with a fantastic view. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

  We just returned from a long weekend at Water View Place. What a beautiful home and memorable stay! The home is situated with a view of the water, and we enjoyed daily sightings of deer grazing in the meadow. Each morning we drank our coffee and watched the wildlife and various activities in the bay.
  
  My cousin and I brought our moms up for a long weekend. We spent several hours a day sight seeing, but always looked forward to coming back to the house at the end of the day to relax. Furnishings were comfortable, Wi-fi worked great, and we enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen.
  
  I would highly recommend this place, and wouldn't mind renting it again in the future. If you have anyone in your party who cannot climb stairs, you may want to consider another location.

  We've rented on both coasts - in the mountains, the desert, on the beach and lakeside - and this property is easily in our top 5; maybe tied for first. The photos are 100% accurate - if not a bit modest: the views across the sound to the Olympics are absolutely incredible. You can actually view the sounds from both the large front deck AND the smaller deck of the master bedroom. The property is well-finished with quality materials, immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. The owners live next door, and were available and friendly but never intrusive. Near the end of a gravel road, the house is incredibly quiet - except for the sounds of the waves and birds. We saw deer and quail each evening. The welcome snacks and first morning coffee supply were a nice extra touch. While not touted in the review, the living room couch (while not a pull-out) is a comfortable sleeping spot if you have a snorer in your family and kids too old to share a bed! With so much to do on the island, we actually scheduled our sunsets to be back at the house to enjoy them! Amazing place!

  From the beautiful garden to the abundant wildlife, this home has it all. The house itself is very nicely appointed, but the natural surroundings are what make it spectacular. The views of the water allow you observe orcas swimming past right from the porch. Hummingbirds and bald eagles fly overhead. Black tailed deer and foxes graze in the surroundings. We would happily return to this property in the future and highly recommend it to others.

  The property was beautiful, and an easy fifteen minutes to town. The view was wonderful, and my wife enjoyed the bald eagle playground that is this particular area, managing to photograph multiple eagles at a time the week of our stay. The house is well furnished and comfortable, and has all the modern touches that you might hope for. The owners live on site, and were incredibly nice and helpful if needed. We will definitely stay here again.

  We had a great trip to Water View Place, the perfect place to stay our first time on San Juan Island. Our family of 4 and my mother made the trip to visit family who live near by. The views were incredible, and the drive in was so different and fun compared to our everyday lives. The house was warm and inviting upon arrival, exactly what was needed after a long travel day. We look forward to coming back and visiting in the summer next time and would love to stay here agin, we hear the whales visit near by and you can hear them singing at night.

  Lovely house and location. Potential guests need to know that main living area is upstairs; not ideal for someone with mobility issues. An added plus that the homeowner is right next door (helped us figure out the tv controls, which are a bit tricky). We appreciated and enjoyed the basket of "first breakfast" and snack items.

  It was one of a kind! The San Juan Islands are like being in another country. And Water View Place was the icing on the cake. We arrived to this well appointed yet comfy cozy home and the whales were feeding in the Haro Strait. They visited mulitple times a day some times and almost every day! The home is masterful design with fine finishes. The owners and their sweet puppy make you feel right at home, but do not hoover :). We will most certainly be back.

  A lovely home in an idyllic rural setting. Very bright, cheery, and open layout with pretty water views. Furnishings and decorations were comfortable and welcoming. Home was spotless with many nice touches such as fluffy towels and local lavender soap in the bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and we were welcomed with fresh bread and coffee upon arrival.
  
  This was our favorite area of San Juan island with the coastal hikes of American camp nearby. We would undoubtedly recommend this special place!

  We rented Water View Place in May. The property met & exceeded our expectations. Kitchen was well stocked, pictures don't really do the house justice as to how nice this house is laid out, especially for a group with the open floor plan. The house is actually closer to the water then the pictures let on. Note it is not on the water but close & has an excellent view - great sunsets. If you had two couples it would be a great house to rent with the set up, & could comfortably fit a family. Location was perfect to run into town or around the island to the top tourists spots. Owners do live next door but you don't realize it & are actually quite helpful with suggesting hikes & things to do. San Juan Property Management was great to work with - responded to all emails, easy payment, & followed up to make sure everything was OK with the house which isn't the norm for most rental agencies.

  Absolutely loved this house/cabin. Perfect for 6 people. Location was great - right on the water with Whales swimming by daily. Far enough out that you feel piece of mind, but accessible to a lot of great San Juan tourist spots. Friendly owners - the husband built this house. Only reservation is that it has 1 bathroom.
