Stonecliff - Waterfront! Seasonal Hot Tub! 15 acres of trails!

Stonecliff offers the peaceful tranquility that you are looking for on San Juan Island. Enjoy the beautiful San Juan Channel water views from nearly every room of this spacious custom home. The detailed river rock fireplace complements the comfortable living room complete with a Smart TV for streaming service and a sofa sleeper for those needing the extra space. There is also a small, finished area underneath the house with an elliptical machine for guests wanting to keep up on their workout routines. Enjoy preparing your meals in the fully equipped kitchen that looks out to the dining room with seating for 8 as well as catching a glimpse of the passing ferry while cooking and visiting with family and friends. This home is equipped with a standard, drip-style coffee maker.

The primary suite has beautiful views out to the water as well as access out to the deck. The room is furnished with a king size bed and has a spacious primary bath with dual sinks, a corner soaking tub and an oversized tiled shower.

The two upstairs bedrooms are both furnished with king sized beds and have open, vaulted ceilings. One bedroom offers breathtaking water views and a private balcony. The second bedroom is nicely appointed and offers direct access to the upstairs full bathroom complete with dual sinks and oversized tub/shower with tiled surround. There is a sleeper sofa located in the main living room.

Relax on the wonderful waterside deck or in the hot tub which is readily available March 15th - January 2nd (hot tub can be turned back on for off season rentals at a fee of $100). In addition to the waterfront ambiance, feel free to walk the 15 acres of property with trails for you to explore some of the island's unique landscape. The owners have also designed a one-of-a-kind scavenger style “Critter Hunt” – a great activity to explore the property.

Another one-of-a-kind aspect of this property is Fran’s Teahouse. The stand-alone studio is tastefully finished with bamboo flooring and is furnished with a cozy futon perfect for meditation, reading, or private and relaxed conversation. -The Teahouse is not a sleeping area.

This amazing and private property provides guests with the feeling of seclusion yet is less than 5 miles from downtown Friday Harbor! Approximately a 10-minute drive to Friday Harbor, or a 10–15-minute drive North to Roche Harbor.

This property has space for 4 vehicles total. No more than 4 vehicles are permitted per reservation.

This house has good cell phone reception.

Fire pits are not usable from May 1st-September 30th due to county burn ban and safety of property and neighboring areas. Ban is usually lifted October 1st if/when conditions and weather are favorable.

This home has Air Conditioning in the downstairs of the home ONLY. The upstairs bedrooms do not have Air Conditioning. A few open windows is enough to cool down the upstairs of the home.

Hot Tub is serviced professionally every Thursday.

*Seasonal hot tub is available March through December. It can be turned back on in January and February for a $100 fee. Please contact our office to schedule.

Pets are not allowed at this property.

  Stonecliff was a perfect week-long respite from city life for three couples. We spent a lot of time on the decks enjoying beautiful sunny days, and did puzzles in the evenings and on a drizzly day. The house has plenty of space to spread out, with a nice kitchen and dining area for shared meals. We saw a fox, several deer and even orcas that swam close enough for us to hear them blowing. We rented bikes and ended up storing them at the rental place each night because it would've been impossible (for us, at least) to ride them down to Stonecliff and back up again. We had a special dinner at Duck Soup, multiple cups of coffee at the Salty Fox and lots of fish and chips at Roche Harbor. A highlight was being on SJI for the SJI County Fair. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation!

  Stonecliff was the perfect home base for our week in the San Juan Islands. Immaculately clean, super comfortable king-sized beds, well-equipped kitchen and beautiful art and furnishings. We loved watching the sunrise over the water each morning with our coffee, and evenings in the hot tub. A lot of love and thought clearly went into this house. No detail was overlooked in the finish out, and the floorplan provided plenty of privacy for two couples, while offering incredible views from every room. The location was great too-quiet, private, serene. But just a quick drive into Friday Harbor shops and restaurants, as well as to exploring around the island. We enjoyed a nice mix of activities and relaxation. Loved our days exploring the islands in a boat rental from Friday Harbor Boat Rentals and Crystal Seas kayaking tour, feeding the alpacas, walking around the docks at Roche Harbor and hiking around Lime Kiln. Best meals were at Duck Soup and Westcott Bay Oyster (make reservations). Enjoyed a stop, too, at San Juan Cellars. We did learn that shops and businesses keep varying hours, Tuesdays a lot of things are closed. Call ahead just to confirm; we tried the Alpaca Farm three times before finally finding them open. Winery is only open Thurs-Sun. Would definitely stay here again!

  Very spacious private home and property. The views were outstanding! We prepared all of our meals in the large, well stocked kitchen and they provided everything we needed for cooking & barbecuing during our stay. The 3 king beds were all very comfortable and they provided plenty of bedding, hot tub towels & bath towels. We loved the nature trails and walking around the property. It is located down a very steep dirt road, but we had no problem getting there with our SUV and the excellent directions. We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and spacious property.
  
  The drawbacks were minimal, but should be noted:
  1. Upon arrival the house smelled very musty & had to be aired out for quite awhile.
  2. Although we knew in advance that check out was at 10am, it seems unreasonably early and doesn’t line up well with the summer ferry schedule, unless you plan on being in the ferry line by 10am for the 11am ferry. We had 4 hours between check out and boarding time, which is too long in Friday Harbor. A lot of the shops weren’t open or didn’t make it during Covid it looks like.
  3. Be aware, the cleaning person arrives before check out and just waits for you to leave. Is it so they can collect another $200 from you if you’re late? It wasn’t a problem for us, but the next person will want to be prepared.
  4. This is a gorgeous water view, but it is not a water front property. There is technically access to the water, but it is treacherous and rocky. You go down a path, over a log, and down the stairs. Once you get to the bottom of the stairs a rope is provided and it leads to the water and to very large slippery rocks, with no beach to enjoy.
  5. The hide-a-bed in the living room was uncomfortable. You might want to bring an air mattress if you need the extra sleeping space.
  6. The bedspreads and pillow shams are ancient and need to be replaced (specifically in the master bedroom).

  This is a beautiful home in a private setting. There are views of the Salish Sea from the living areas and two of the bedrooms, and multiple decks from which to enjoy the view and fresh air. The house and the hot tub were clean and ready for use. The kitchen is well organized and stocked with dishes, pans, etc, anything you might need. There is plenty of space to hang out together or to be alone. It is convenient to Friday Harbor, which has plenty of restaurants and shops, and is the setting out point for whale watching and ferries.

  Loved the time that we spent on San Juan. The home was all we hoped for. When we arrived the lights were on and music was playing to give it a fun atmosphere. The view from the balcony was incredible! We had a lot of fun on the hike through the woods looking for the creatures. We even found the illusive preying mantis, but we never found the small owls (2nd item on the list). We are not usually early morning people, but the sun coming up over the water was was beautiful to wake to. The tea house was cute (but a little stuffy like it doesn't get aired out enough).

  Our family of five (2 adults & 3 kids under 7) along with my parents had an AMAZING stay. We got away for a break from the regular 2020 schedule and really loved this property. The view on this house alone is worth the trip, not to mention the awesome critter path through the property. We had so much fun hiking in the privacy of our own space! We found all but 2 critters! The trails to the water were fun, also. The hot tub was cozy; all the rooms had enough space and bedding for all to be comfy; the tea house was unique and we just can’t say enough about how wonderful it was. We only had one rainy day when we went to visit Orca’s Island but that was a fun trip to the tower, just no view on that day. The personal touches truly made our trip unique and memorable.

  We’ve stayed here before and will be back. The house is gorgeous and views can’t be beat. We saw tons of dear, and a bald eagle alighted right outside the window and graciously allowed us to get many photos. In the past we’ve also seen seals and orcas.   The house is very lovely and extremely comfortable. We chose this home because of the location and the fact that it has 3 king beds. The road to the house is a quite bumpy but worth the trek. We paid a premium to stay and our only disappointment was that, for the price, we expected the kitchen to be better stocked. The water and juice glasses were all plastic and there were no serving platters and a shortage of paper goods (no napkins) and cooking utensils. For the price we expected a little more. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay. We gave low stars for online listing accuracy because once we made the reservation the price increased almost 50%! We wish we had known the real price up front.

  We had a great time at Stonecliff. The location and views were amazing! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the house and hot tub were clean. Did I mention the views were amazing? For the price point I’d expect tissues, shampoo and conditioner to be provided. We had to purchase our own when in town. I’d also recommend a shower caddy in the master bathroom. It’s a little awkward to store soap and toiletries on the shower floor. Overall we had a great experience and would book Stonecliff again.

  We rent houses or apartments whenever possible on our travels and this house on San Juan Island was the cleanest, lovliest, best location, most fun house we have ever stayed at. We have already told friends about it and we would love to return. It is a great house. Spacious, beautiful views, the property is beautiful and the owners have made it a very comfortable and fun place to be. The foos ball table was fun to play with, the low tide at the rocky beach was great. We saw a few sea lions swim by, and uncovered an eel under a rock at the beach. 5 stars all the way.

  We were very happy with our stay at Stonecliff. The house lives up to it's description and photos. Kitchen had pretty much everything we needed, views were amazing, and there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the house. The view from the hot tub was fantastic. One thing to note is that it only holds four people, which for most families and groups should not be a problem. Outdoor grill was clean and worked great. One thought would be to have instructions on the wood burning fireplace. We weren't able to figure out if the damper was open or not..... it doesn't have a chain, and we were worried about smoking out the house. The management company did offer to have someone come out to help, but since our stay was short we just went without the fire. On that note, the outdoor fireplace was great.
  One special treat for families is the trail system with the critter find scavenger hunt. The walk is beautiful and finding the critters was fun for the whole family.
  Place was clean with the exception of some popcorn under the coffee table.

  The Stonecliff house was perfect for our two families with young children. It was so quiet the entire time, and we loved seeing the bald eagles over the property. We stayed for four nights, and loved using the hottub, taking in the views from in and out of the house, and cooking meals in the kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked, and the movies, puzzles, and games were a nice bonus. Getting to the house is a bit of a drive on an unpaved road, so it's a little tricky to get back at night.

  What a remarkable week's stay we had at this beautiful location. The pictures online almost do it justice, but it was even more spectacular . Everything in the house was well cared for and fully supplied. Hiking the critter trail was lots of fun,. We made good use of the hot tub and went down to the rocky shore tidepools numerous times. On the island we went whale watching, visited both the American and English camps, hiked at Lime Kiln Park, along of course with Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. Best meal: Duck Soup Inn. I'd recommend this rental to anyone. Probably better for 6 people than 8 since sofa bed is in living room. (Our 2 school age kids ended up sleeping on the floor in the spacious master bedroom walk-in closets, but that worked for them.)

The upstairs bedroom had children's socks in one drawer and an opened package of cookies in another drawer. There was lint in the dryer and the pantry needed some attending to-open flour in plastic bags felt sticky. Some of the items should have been tossed. Pantry and kitchen drawers need some organizing.
  These did not detract from a wonderful time spent there but would improve the overall experience.

  The Stonecliff property is large, well taken care of, has a great location and incredible views. What a phenomenal place to stay!!! We loved waking up every morning to the incredible views. ON a clear day you can see Mount Baker and everything in between. The property has a lot of land for the kids and adults to roam and play. The small beach area is filled with little tiny crabs that the kids loved to go see. There were deer on the property several different times and we saw seals out in the water right near the property.
  
  The house itself has three good sized rooms, big bathrooms and lots of room to have personal space. We used the hot tub, the fire pit, went on walks around the property and slept in beds more comfortable than the ones we have at home.
  
  We would definitely recommend this property and may be reserving it again for a future vacation!

  Our families stay at Stonecliff was fabulous! The views were amaZing. The house was very clean and better than the pictures show. Beds and linens were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked we had everything we needed to make our family meals. We enjoyed the badminton court and just taking in the views from all the windows. All of the island was easy to access. No long drives to anywhere on the island. the island was so beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking, visiting Friday harbor and Roche Harbor and the lavender farm. Groceries are very expensive in town, next time we will buy before coming over on the ferry. We would love to stay again.

The rental company took care of getting us high chairs and pack & plays for the babies (for a nominal fee) which was very helpful to have them waiting for us.   My family and my parents (7 people in all) spent 6 wonderful days at Stonecliff. We enjoyed exploring San Juan Island and all of it's amazing flora and fauna and especially loved our stay at Stonecliff. This beautiful home was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. While it is just a short drive to Friday Harbor, the home is quite a distance off the road and sits on a heavily wooded, private lot with a beautiful rocky shoreline. The views from the home were truly unforgettable...we awoke each morning around 5 to simply watch the sun rise over Mt. Baker and often ended the day in the hot tub listening to the birds in the woods and on the shore. We saw seals and harbor porpoises off the shore as well as deer and many birds. We all had a great time and found ourselves both well rested and reluctant to leave at the end of our stay. We would love to return to Stonecliff and SJI again and highly recommend the home to travelers seeking a serene, relaxing and beautiful home away from home!

  We loved the location and the island. We liked being out of the hubbub (relatively mild though anyway) of Friday Harbor but being close to both Friday and Roche Harbors was great!

  The home was the perfect size for 6 adults. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. The property is located in a secluded are with an amazing view. We watched balled eagles from the kitchen table and could see porpoises and harbor seals from the deck. We enjoyed using the outdoor fire pit at night.

  Property was as explained on line and more. Very clean, well appointed kitchen, beach towels....had everything we needed. We had all the comforts of home. You might want to add to the advertisement of Stonecliff that the deck faces east for those who may be interested in the breathtaking sunrise and moonrise. Hiking trail was spectacularly beautiful and manageable....even at 60. Renting this house made out stay on San Juan Island husband thought it was the best part of our trip to the NW. Property management does a complete and professional job.
