Enjoy a quiet getaway on Mitchell Bay. Curl up around the wood-burning stove with enchanting views offered by the picture windows, gaze out across the bay with your morning tea, or relax in the hot tub. Mitchell Bay Shores is nestled in a very quiet and cozy neighborhood. Though secluded, this location is a short drive to British Camp National Park, walking trails on Mount Young, and Roche Harbor Resort, Marina and Spa.

This home has a comfortable living room with a wood stove, a sleeper sofa, and a family area equipped with a flat screen Smart TV, Roku, DVD player, and a stereo system.

The dining area is conveniently located between the kitchen and family room with easy access to the outdoor deck and patio. The dining table has seating for 6.

The primary suite offers double doors that open to a private balcony and is furnished with a queen size bed. The spacious en-suite bath includes an oversize tiled shower. The guest bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed as well.

This no-bank waterfront home lends itself to clamming and crabbing, the ability to access the water without leaving the property, and kayak launching. (However, there is no dock access, and boats or kayaks are not included.) The spacious yard is perfect for enjoying the outdoors! This house is equipped with a charcoal BBQ. (Bring your own charcoal. *During seasonal San Juan County burn bans, use of the charcoal grill may be prohibited*.) And of course, the hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking, biking, or kayaking!

The hot tub is professionally serviced on a weekly basis.

This home does not have Air Conditioning. A few open doors provide a cooling breeze off the water. Portable fans are provided as well.

This house does not have good cell phone reception. This home has Wi-fi which will support calls from your personal cell.

  Comfortable and very spacious! Good location for getting around on the island. Well stocked kitchen, except for a vegetable peeler. We enjoyed the Whale Museum, Lime Kiln Park, Sculpture Park, American and British Camps. We visited the Krystal Acres Alpaca farm, they are so adorable and soft. We bought the bag of pellets to feed them. The San Juan Island National Historical Park gave us wonderful views of the surrounding islands. The only we didn't see was a live whale. Maybe next time. Overall would recommend this rental for groups needing only two beds, fold out is small and best suited for kids in our opinion. Tv is old and small, which was fine for us but don’t plan on it being entertainment while visiting. Same with stereo, dated and we’re unable to plug in phones or devices to play music through.

  We are a family of five - two couples and a toddler. This was our first trip to the San Juan Islands and we had a wonderful experience. The house was well located on the west side with easy access to all of the island's amenities. The quiet bay was pretty, peaceful and proved a great spot for rest and relaxation. The sofa bed is not really made for an adult so keep that in mind if you book for more than 4 people. It's really meant for a child to stay comfortably. But the small yard and easy access to a shallow bay and low tide gave us great space to play safely. The home itself is simple but comfortable and has everything you need. The beds are comfortable and rooms well appointed. There is nice lounge space with an informal living room/TV area and a second living space with fireplace. We took advantage of the hot tub (which is very hot, as other renters have described, so be careful). If we're being picky, we'd recommend new pots and pans and a new stove - both of which are quite outdated, teflon scratches, burners not working or uneven, etc. We cooked every night so having a decent supply of cooking utensils was important to us - may not be for someone looking to eat out most of their trip. The back door also needs a new door knob and lock - it's very difficult to get the door opened from either side. Finally, the cleaning team left the sheets and towels in the dryer for us to fold and asked that we put towels in the wash when we checked out, which we found to be a strange request (have never been asked to do laundry when renting a house previously). Finally, a small rowboat would be incredible to cruise around the bay but we can understand why perhaps that wasn't something offered. All of those are minor items or nice to have items and didn't diminish our stay but would turn this from a great property to an incredible property. Overall we were very happy to stay here and would highly recommend.

  We loved staying at this homeon Mitchell Bay. We stayed for 10 days and were so bummed when we had to leave. The house was so spacious and open with lots of natural light, and such a quiet area. Definitely a great escape from th hustle and bustle of city life. We loved the yard and playing in the bay was exciting for our children. Even our dog enjoyed the area. We had an issue with the septic system and the maintenance guy, Chris, arrived within 15 minutes to repair everything. And he checked in a few days later to make sure everything was going well and to see if we needed anything else. Great service, beautiful home. We hope to return again next year!

  Loved staying here- the house was spacious, clean and comfortable! Kitchen had all the basic amenities and we loved the fireplace and hot tub. The home is located approx. 15 minutes away from the town of Friday Harbor, so guests should consider this when renting.
  
  Would have liked a bit more info on hot tub operation- we figured out how to turn up the heat and unlock, but including that in the house instructions would have been helpful.
  Also would have been nice to know if the boat in the garage is available for use.

  When walking into this home.....we all just gasped. The view was just amazing. The first thing we did was get out a bottle of wine and tosted to the beautiful view. The kitchen was well stocked. The BBQ worked great and we enjoyed grilled fish and oysters purchased nearby. We loved the sound of geese and waterfowl. The hot tub was too hot the first day but we enjoyed it the other times once it cooled down. The lounge chairs were a winner with our entire party and now we are looking to purchase some due to the comfortable position to watch the stars. The bushes and trees in front of the deck did obscure the view somewhat. The second bedroom bed we felt needs to be replaced. The Island is a magical place and we loved exploring it. We hope to be back to this gorgeous place on Mitchell Bay.

  Our experience was enjoyable, the property was clean and well stocked. We were provided with the necessary items for our convenience. We enjoyed the beautiful location and grateful for a well kept yard, the kids had a great time playing there, we really appreciated the hot tub. We were happy to be allowed to bring our dog, she had a great time. We had a positive experience and would definitely use RVBO again for another vacation. One observation made while at the property, I did not see evidence of smoke detectors, maybe I overlooked them, but feel they would be a good addition for safety.

  Our family stayed here for our Spring Break vacation. The yard is big and the house is also quite large inside. It has all the household amenities that you'll need. Next time I will bring a couple of kayaks as the property has its own beach on a very calm inlet-Mitchell Bay. The hot tub was great after our long hike up to the top of nearby Mt. Young-what a view. Extremely friendly neighbors too. Great place on a great island.

  We stayed here over Easter weekend and had a wonderful time. The house is dated, but well kept and clean. It has large living space and large yard, with a nice patio. The weather was still chilly though so we did not spend much time outside, but it would be a great place in the summer months. The property is about a 20 min drive from Friday Harbor and a shorter drive to Roche Harbor. If you plan to cook your own meals, we'd recommend stocking up at the market in FH before driving over. Overall, a great stay.

  This was our tenth annual trip to San Juan Island. In the past we stayed at Snug Harbor but with their new no pet rule we booked this home instead. It was perfect, lots of room, not too fancy but very comfortable. I (Stacy) enjoyed the extra room and the
  privacy. The setting was also picture perfect and a big thank-you to the owners who allowed dogs! We had a bit of a challenge with the lights, what turned on what and burned out lights and no shovel to clean up after the dogs. I could also see that it might
  get rather warm in the summer with all the windows and no window coverings. But hardly worth mentioning in view of all the other positives.

  We had a wonderful weekend at the property. I stayed at the cabin with my husband, two daughters and my mom. We had a great time relaxing, enjoying the sun, playing games and exploring the island.
  
  Home is very spacious, clean and private. The wall of windows on the back of the house showcase the view and make the home very bright and cheery.
  
  Our daughters really enjoyed playing on the beach (keep in mind that this is a mud bay) and finding the biggest clams and oysters we've ever seen. The beach is not sandy but still fun for the kids. The huge back yard was great for kicking a ball around and playing tag.
  
  Hot tub was fixed before our arrival and worked great. We loved sitting out under the stars and relaxing.
  
  We also had some great wildlife sightings. Two bald eagles hanging out in the treetops on the edge of the property. Also spotted two foxes on our drive back from Roche Harbor!
  
  The location of this home is very private yet close to Roche Harbor (10 minutes) and Friday Harbor (20 minutes). Roche Harbor is great place to spend an afternoon. We headed over for breakfast and some exploring. The grocery store is surprisingly well stocked and we found all of the basics (and then some) that we needed there. We also visited British Camp park which is just a few minutes drive and has great hiking trails with interesting history.
  
  We were very happy with our stay and will try to stay here again. Our daughters are already asking to go back!

  Almost everything about this property was astounding: Very comfortable beds and furniture; huge well-equipped kitchen; on-site washer and dryer; quiet neighborhood; the hot tub; wireless internet; proximity to attractions; and watching the tide changes on the bay. We brought out own portable propane grills because we did not want to mess with the charcoal. That worked out very well also.

  This house is beautifully located on Mitchell Bay, close to Roche Harbor and the English camp. The wild life viewing right from the back yard was inspiring. We loved the hot tub and the great views. The house has a nice open floor plan and picture windows looking out at the bay. The house is not fancy (furniture and rugs need to be updated) but we thought it was a slice of heaven and would definitely rent again.

  Mitchell Bay was well cared for and very pleasant with the major exceptions that the stove was mostly dysfunctional and the cooking pans need to be replaced unless you like to eat teflon coating.
  
  Sportsman Lodge was very suitable for our large family gathering with the exception that the microwave was broken and after reporting it the first day, it was not replaced for the whole week. Outdoor shower does not work and that would have been helpful to have with kids. The grill was broken but was replaced.

  From start to finish, our experience at Mitchell Bay was fabulous. The house was great, everything worked, we even had fabulous weather! Our dog loved the big lawn, and we all loved the picture windows and views of the bay. Just a note, the shore is muddy, so not for beach combing, but great for boating or kayaking. Would love to come again!

  Very delightful house on Mitchell Bay. We loved being able to launch our kayaks right from the house. Our dog loved the yard and daily visits from neighborhood dogs. There were only a few minor issues we brought up to the management company who were very prompt in responding. The satellite was not working too well during our stay and quite a few light bulbs needed replacement but other than that, we loved the house. We would stay here again.

  We loved our stay on Mitchell Bay. The location was very private and quiet. The deck was lovely to sit on first thing in the morning and in the evening. The hot tub was a nice addition - but the temperature needs to be turned down a couple notches. There was good wireless internet access (a real plus). However the satellite TV service is not reliable - no matter whether it is sunny or cloudy - the service is not available many afternoons and evenings. This left more time for reading, walking on the quiet roads, and enjoying the hummingbirds.

  We had a fantastic time. We were a group of two couples and there was an abundance of space and amenities. Everything exceeded our expectations especially the hot tub and view. The bay was a little swampy so we didn't spend too much time in it but we really didn't want to leave the cabin anyway.
