House of the Ocean Sun is a modern, stylish waterfront home with clean finishes that provide a sense of luxury, but also livability. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a group of friends looking for a fun, relaxing, and stylish retreat. With high quality furniture, mattresses, linens and amenities galore.

There is a cozy fireplace in the living room with an accordion glass wall opening the entire house to the stunning Salish Sea. The deck is off of the living room with a dining table, outdoor sofa, hot tub and BBQ. Follow the private path down to the bench on the water or enjoy the picnic table and firepit for s’mores or stargazing. For a private moment, visit the lower deck and sit in the basket swing.

The Primary suite, located upstairs, has a 20-foot vaulted ceiling, a King bed with luxury mattress and linens, a Smart TV, a sound machine, an aromatherapy diffuser, and Alexa speaker for you to enjoy. There is a reading area with a sofa and library as well. Finally, step out of your sliding glass door onto your private balcony overlooking the Salish Sea.

The stunning en-suite bathroom features heated floors, dual sinks with a custom live edge countertop, 2 shower heads, and a large pedestal soaker tub. This is the bathroom of your dreams!

The Guest suite is located on the main level and features an upholstered Queen bed with luxury mattress and linens, a large armoire closet, a sound machine, an aromatherapy diffuser, and Alexa speaker for you to enjoy. The bathroom is located on the main level just steps away from the Guest suite which features dual sinks with a custom fir wood countertop and a large glass shower with marble tile. Located in the closet is a washer and dryer with all your laundry and cleaning needs.

There is a stylish dining area with a bronze chandelier, a 6-person dining table and a wonderful view of the Salish Sea. A large wall of accordion glass doors completely opens to a large deck for an indoor/outdoor experience with breathtaking water views of the sound below. Here, you'll enjoy outdoor dining with a table and seating for 6, a stainless-steel BBQ grill, as well as the relaxing views.
The living room has a gas fireplace, a large sectional sofa, an armchair, coffee table, a telescope, an Alexa system, and a large 55-inch Smart TV for logging into streaming services. The sofa opens into a regular queen-sized bed. The large cabinet in the entry offers plenty of space for the guests staying in the living room to store their belongings. There is excellent Wi-Fi and cell reception for those needing to connect.

You'll find the kitchen is well stocked with spices and quality cookware for guests to prepare meals during their stay. An island with seating and stainless-steel appliances make this kitchen a cook's dream. The "little extras" will help make your use of the kitchen enjoyable. We supply a coffee grinder as well as whole espresso beans in addition to a few flavored syrups during your stay.

  We walked in and promptly decided to cancel our activity plans for the next day -- we were just so in love with the home and wanted to stay & enjoy it! The home is close to Friday Harbor without being too close, very quiet and restful. We loved sitting on the deck in the early morning hours (well, really all parts of the day). Our bird app identified 7-10 different types of birdsong. The home was beautifully designed and furnished and we used the fireplace everyday. I'd love this for my own home. I'm already planning to return next summer!
  
  This did not impact us, but I do want to call out the bedroom doors for those who may have stronger privacy needs (eg couples). The upstairs bedroom is its own distinct space but it does not have an actual bedroom door (although the upstairs bathroom does have a door). The main floor bedroom has a barn door which covers the door but still has the typical gaps above and to the sides. We didn't hear much, just some talking sometimes, but ymmv.

  Wow, what a stunning place! The house itself is wonderful, extremely comfortable and cozy with pretty much everything you could want. Having coffee beans on hand was a great touch to make it easy to have a great cup of coffee while admiring the fantastic view. While the house itself is wonderful, the view is that much better. The large porch and additional chairs down closer to the water made it easy to just chill when not out enjoying the rest of what San Juan Island has to offer. We would absolutely love to come stay again!

  We stayed for two nights as a quick getaway and it was the most welcoming enjoyable rental I’ve stayed at for awhile. We loved the view and the bathrooms - the hot tub on the deck were great! We tended to watch movies upstairs since the living room tv was a little high, so it was nice to have the option. The tea kettle may need replacing - just a note- there was residue coming off the bottom floating around in the water. Also, it was be super nice to add smaller spoons. The spoons were huge! Just helpful hints for the managers ;) we wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

  One of my main concerns about rental properties is the experience of the reality v the listing, meaning you discover negatives that you just can't determine from the photos or description. In the House of the Ocean Sun, I am thrilled to say that the home met and exceeded my expectations in every respect!
  
  The home is exactly as it's pictured and described; it's gorgeous, clean, incredible views, high-end everything. And a delightful bonus is that literally everything in the home is labeled, light switches, cabinets, towels, kitchen drawers so it was incredibly EASY to find anything I needed. I just loved that as sometimes I spent hours just trying to figure out what goes where and, of course, forget where to put things afterwards.
  
  The hot tub is the best I've ever used at a VRBO property. It's serviced and maintained and it's HOT - 104 degrees - and the view of the Salish Sea is unmatched.
  
  Also, San Juan Property Management did a wonderful job communicating and they were responsive to everything we needed.
  
  This property is expensive, but well worth the value. I highly recommend it!
