Cozy Waterfront Cabin! (Garrison Bay Hideaway)

Enjoy this quiet, comfortable waterfront cottage across from historic British Camp National Park with exquisite marine views from every window and stunning sunrises. The master bedroom features a queen bed and a full bath adjacent to the bedroom door.

There is no dock access. This property is situated on a private dead end dirt road across the bay from British Camp National Park. Bring kayaks and paddle boards to take full advantage of this waterfront cabin with a small private beach that is a perfect spot for launching. The dock on the property is not for guest-use. Historic British Camp has miles of trails to enjoy, including an amazing view from the top of Young Hill.

You will find that this rental is the perfect place to spend a romantic week or relax and unwind from a busy lifestyle. Simple, clean and cozy... we know you will find it hard to leave. This home is equipped with a flat screen Smart-Television. Guests are welcome to log in to their own streaming services.

Cook clams, crab and oysters on the outdoor propane barbecue. Within a short distance, you can buy oysters from the oyster farm located in Westcott Bay, which are shipped all over the world.

Fire pits are not usable from May 1st-September 30th due to county burn ban and safety of property and neighboring areas. The ban is usually lifted October 1st if/when conditions and weather are favorable. Firewood not provided.

This home does not have Air Conditioning.

Pets are not allowed at this property.

No Dock Access.

The internet / Wi-fi at this house should be sufficient for streaming video, phone calls, remote work and video conferencing.

  From the minute I crowned the hill and saw the beautiful cottage on the shore, I knew I was in for a lovely. long weekend. With darling shingled exterior and only 20 feet from the shore - the place was a quintessential island getaway.
  
  Inside I found a nice galley kitchen which provided everything I needed. I did buy some sea salt in a grinder which I hope is still there for others to use. The kitchen overlooks the living area with comfy sofa. good sized screen to cast your various streaming apps to, and a lovely gas fireplace. (Know that you need to get down on your hands and knees to toggle the switch up to turn the fireplace on... a bit cumbersome.) Sitting on the sofa, you look out over beautiful Garrison Bay and feel as though you are on a float over the water. Sooooo wonderful. The bedroom had open shelving an a few hooks to hang things on. As you're in the islands, no need to bring clothes that require hangers!
  
  Outside there are two paver patios, the one on the water side sporting two Adirondack chairs and cute portable fire pit. (BYOW... bring your own wood.) Wishing it had been a bit better weather so I could have enjoyed the patio - but that just means I'll need to come back again during warmer months.
  
  Side note - I met the owner on one of my trips back from town. He was delightful with such an interesting story of how he and his wife wound up with the property. (They live next door to the cottage.)

  We wanted to get away for a quiet weekend and we could not have been happier with our stay here. The location is unmatched. There were some TV/Internet issues; however, it was a blessing to be able to unplug and unwind. When we reached out to the property management company, they were professional and took care of any issues immediately. The owner of the property even stopped by to ensure everything was working well. He was a delight and getting to connect with him was a bonus.

  Husband and I stayed for a big birthday getaway and made incredible memories here while staying at the Garrison Bay Hideaway. Our lodging was just darling! The perfect size for the 2 of us- it was cozy, clean, and full of wildlife viewings. Throughout the days while lounging at our Hideaway, we'd watch the harbor seal haul out, nurse their pups, and slink about in the water. There was never a dull moment while enjoying the views. Its own launching beach was convenient to push our own kayaks off from to paddle in the bay every evening. We did a lot of home cooking while staying here, and were never wanting for more amenities or appliances. We loved the location of Garrison Bay too- distance from the Friday + Roche Harbor scene but never felt remote or secluded in a negative way. Bopping into the other harbors was easy; we biked to Roche for an afternoon as intermediate road cyclists. We booked a kayak tour with the sister company and had a great experience with our guide, Wes. ( tip your guides! He was a wealth of information and a good time.) There was a small booking issue where we had a typo in an email but San Juan Prop Mngt quickly remedied the situation. They provided all the helpful resources to book our ferries- but we warned, book your ferries when you book your lodging!
  Our stay at Garrison Bay Hideaway was simply the best.

  A pandemic Birthday can be hard to celebrate. This cabin has a wonderfully calm feel,and an amazing water view. So many merganzers, buffleheads and great blue herons just to name a few. Clean and well stocked,I hope to return.

  Garrison Bay Hideaway was a delightful little cottage just right for the two of us. It has an incredibly well equipped kitchen as well as laundry and bathroom. The bed is cozy and very comfortable. We enjoyed watching seals, boats coming and going, hiking at English camp, slow mornings, and grilling dinners outside. Even though there was construction going on next door, we hardly heard it and it was no bother at all. Can’t wait to stay at this snug little hideaway again!

  Walk out the back door and drop your paddleboard or kayak into the water on serene Garrison Bay. Watch the charming river otters, seals and herons. The cottage is small but perfectly provides anything you need for two people to have a comfortable stay. The owners are just lovely - we really enjoyed getting to chat with them a few times! Yes there is construction next door (August 2021) but it did not bother us in the least. We hope to be back!

  The cabin is small but very well-appointed and is located right on the water near Roche Harbor. The setting felt private despite being near several other houses, and the views over the bay could not have been more beautiful. We met the property owners, who were lovely. Could've spent the whole weekend there, but got around easily to Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, and other parts of the island. Highly recommend!

  This small and simple cabin on magical Garrison Bay offered us a relaxing and tranquil experience. It didn't take long for us to unwind from our work lives, relax and just be present as we watched the water and the wildlife each day from the large patio. The Canadian Geese (including a rare white goose), that overnight in a large field a few doors down, proceed through the Bay in flotillas each morning and then back again each evening. While we were there a single otter paid a visit to the oyster-rich cove next door several times, and a speckled harbor seal decided to sun herself at the end of the dock for the better part of a day. She then hung around the bay (occasionally checking in on us) for several days after. Our first night we went to the end of the dock to see luminescent hagfish, and groups of tiny fish were ever present. A swallow family apparently was in the process of taking up residence underneath the dock ramp.
  
  Across the bay where the remanants of the English Camp are still visible there is Guss Island which is sacred to the Lummi people. The island is off-limits to visitors. The Lummi people believe that this is where they (as a people) emerged onto this earth. Doesn't get more magical than that.
  
  Easy trail hikes through English Camp and the Point, and moderate hikes up Young Hill are great ways to exercise and see more of the Island.
