This beautifully decorated and well-appointed vacation home provides all the comforts needed while on San Juan Island. As soon as you open the front door, you will notice how much care has gone into making this home warm, convenient and all about relaxation and fun in one of the region’s most sought-after locations for getting away from it all. This home is located within a close walk to one of the island's best sandy beaches and the many trails at American Camp, as well as a 5-minute drive to South Beach, a local favorite spot with built-in with County-approved fire pits for summer s'mores and BBQing. This property is perfectly situated for those who are wanting to be island active or looking forward to some peaceful island living.

The open floor plan is laid out with the kitchen, dining room, media room, living room and 3/4 bath (shower, sink, toilet) all on the main level. There is also a sleeping room with Queen bed on the main level; perfect for those not wanting to use stairs. The living room features comfy sofas, high ceilings and great lighting from the many windows with southern exposure. The dining room is connected to the kitchen and features seating for six with additional chairs plus a restaurant-style booster chair for tiny travelers. The counter bar has seating for four and sits just between the dining and kitchen areas.

The kitchen has all the appliances necessary including a microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, crock pot and is well-equipped with all the essentials for meal preparation, so everyone can enjoy cooking together in this spacious and open kitchen.

The upstairs boasts 3 bedrooms and "the kids' room" (3 Queen beds and 1 Bunk Bed), two bathrooms, and a yoga room/office for your enjoyment.

Children will enjoy running around in the spacious yard and playing on the swing set. Once the sun goes down, you can sit under the stars while roasting marshmallows and enjoying the outdoor fire pit (off season use only).

Fire pits are not usable from May 1st-September 30th due to county burn ban and safety of property and neighboring areas. Ban is usually lifted October 1st if/when conditions and weather are favorable. Firewood not provided.
This home has Air Conditioning. There are portable fans provided, however, opening a few doors and windows are adequate to cool down the home on a warm day.

Cell phone service is fair at this property, and long-distance calling is allowed on the landline at no charge. The Wi-Fi connection is also adequate for making phone calls on your personal cell.
Yard work can take place throughout the month.
The internet / Wi-fi at this house should be sufficient for streaming video, phone calls, remote work and video conferencing. Internet Speed Test Results… Download Speed: 21.21 Mbps -- Upload Speed: 1.89 Mbps -- Ping: 52 Ms.

San Juan Island is a remote location, and it is good to keep in mind that intermittent, short, Wi-Fi disruptions are very normal for this area.

  The house was great. There were 8 of us with plenty of sleeping room and plenty of room to spread out around the house, great sized kitchen where we could all cook and eat together. The house was only a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Friday Harbor, and was also a 10-ish minute walk to the American Camp trails or to Eagle Cove Beach. Wifi worked really well too, and although cell coverage was spotty throughout parts of the island, Wifi calls worked perfect from the house.

  'Island Retreat' is so aptly named. The big, fresh country home sits on a expansive, grassy, level lot at the southerly end of San Juan Island. Be sure to bring your frisbee, badminton and lawn ball games. This is the quintessential 'summer home' - fresh, light, bright, walking distance to the beach.
  There are even surprise features like a separate Library/TV room tucked off the kitchen. It is a well-appointed home that absolutely delighted our large family. PS You are going to love the balconies off the bedrooms and the giagantic front deck too!

  Beautiful house with plenty of room in the bedrooms and the living spaces along with the yard which was totally private from neighbors. Many necessities in the kitchen and bathroom provided, we cooked at the house almost all weekend and cleanup was also easy. Weather was back and forth from warm and sunny to sprinkling rain, the covered porch space was a great way to continue hanging outside during rain.

  This is a great rental for a family looking to stay near Eagle Cove. It is very clean, roomy, comfortable and private. There is just one issue. There is a step-down into the dining area from the kitchen and into the livingroom. Even though there is blue-tape marking the step-down, it is easy to miss it. May not be the best house if there is an elderly visitor.

The front yard with a swing set was the favorite part of the four children and the adults loved lounging at different cozy corners of the house.   This beautiful house was perfect for our young family. Our girls squealed with delight on finding the bunk beds and stuffies. The porch is perfectly located to watch them while on the swing set. The house floor plan worked amazingly well for our situation. The house was clean and free of clutter you will sometimes find at a rentals and the furniture was newish and free of stains. The locations is a short drive or walk to Eagles Cove so even though it was not water view we actually preferred the private escape. My only request would be for the bunk beds to be repaired as the top bunk railing was cracked which should be an easy fix. We will definitely be back after covid as it would be a perfect spot for out of town grandparents to join us. Thank you for our much needed vacation.

  My grandparents used to live on the island, so I'm very familiar with the entire island. This place is a real gem we love the location right near South Beach. The drive in is an enchanting wooded driveway, opening up to a secluded but very large lot. The owners go out of their way to ensure a wonderful experience. Little things like propane for the BBQ, wood for the fire pit (although we had a fire ban when we were on the island). The house itself has a great floor plan. We genuinely loved our stay and plan to come again!

  Great experience, spacious house, with plenty of room for everyone in our 3 family party. Beautiful balconies off of 3 of the rooms. Much larger and modern than I expected based on the photos. Easy walk to the beach, huge lawn and swingset for the kids to play on. Large, well-stocked kitchen and dining area perfect for family meals. Two nits: many outlets in the bedrooms wouldn't hold a plug, they would just fall out, which was annoying, and we couldn't get the gas grill to heat up properly. Loved the balance of privacy and ease of access to the sights here, would absolutely considering coming back again.

  Great place for peace and relaxation. Quiet and secluded, but not far from anything you need. House itself (including kitchen) was very well equipped with all supplies. Very clean and well kept. The only pain is the ferry reservation system to get to the Island itself, but the staff at San Juan Property were great trying to help anyway they could! Very empathetic but helpful. In the end it was a great long weekend ! Would stay again for sure!

  We had a wonderful visit at your home in March. The location was really cool, very private and just a short distance to the beach. It took us 20 minute to walk to American Park and there were some beautiful trails there that led to the water. We saw lots of deer and a fox too. The only thing that needs attention is the plumbing/water pressure. One of the toilets was touchy. Also, a lot of the outlets are loose and don't work. It would be helpful if you could fix those up. Those were minor concerns and they did not detract from our stay. The house was spacious and easily accomodated our family of five plus my parents. We have teenagers and a five year old and there was something for everyone in this house. Oh, and the library is fantastic! A wonderful collection. Thank you for a great stay!

  We loved our stay in this lovely home. The yard was huge and great for playing a quick match of wiffle ball. The porch was lovely for meals, and the kitchen had every utensil we needed to cook. There's plenty of space inside to spread out. The home is even more beautiful inside than the pictures show. The beach is a short walk away, and it feels like you're all alone on the island because of the incredible setting of this property. This was quite a find, and I would definitely stay here again.

  The weather was in our favor! We had a high of 80 most days we stayed. The house was well stocked with the essentials and had lots of light. I'm sure this doesn't come up often as it doesn't get that hot, but it would be nice if the Windows had screens to keep the bugs out at night.
  We took full advantage of the porch, fire pit and the kitchen. Even had some deer and raccoons may us a visit.
  Another thing to note is that your cell doesn't always have service on the island, make sure you turn off roaming as it will some times hop onto a Canadian service provider! Knowing this, it would be great if the wifi was stronger to help with wifi calling (in case of an emergency back home).

  This beautiful house was a great fit for us! We had 2 families with small children meeting up here, and we found it to be great for adults and kids alike. There was plenty of sleeping space, dining space, common space, and outdoor space! There are stairs, but the slats made it easy for little ones to navigate (and I noticed a gate provided too, but we didn't need it). We were very happy and comfortable here and would gladly stay again.

  We rented this property to celebrate the engagement of some close friends. No place better than this home on San Juan Island! The property is in a prime location on the south part of the island; it's walking distance to Eagle's Cove and a short drive or bike ride to South Beach.

The property gets a wonderful amount of evening sunlight and lawn is great for playing frisbee.
